My Tattoos
This page contains pictures of my various tattoos with some brief details about them. This is a work in progress, so new tattoos will be added here as and when they happen. (The quality of the pictures is less than perfect as they were taken using the webcam on my computer - photographing your own arms can prove to be a little difficult - but they will be upgraded if I ever get better ones.)
The first tattoo I had done. An eagle on my upper left arm, done in Preston by Steve Tatt2. This was done over 30 years ago.
My second tattoo, also done in Preston by Steve Tatt2. This is a dragon on the inside of my right forearm.
Third tattoo. A winged panther on my left forearm. A mate of a mate did this in Southport around 20 years ago. He could only work when pissed so this cost me a half bottle of vodka, which he proceeded to drink then he did the tattoo!
My fourth tattoo, done just over a week ago, June 2018, by Moby at Dabs Tattoo in Birkdale, Southport. This is on my right forearm and is a Celtic Wren, my birthsign for June in the Celtic Animal Zodiac.
Fifth tattoo, done today, Friday 13th July 2018, by Moby at DABS in Birkdale. Upper right arm. The image is my personal logo plus the clan motto in gaelic. (Today's tattoo should have been the clan crest but there was a cock-up and the image for that was mislaid so it will have to be done next month.)
Moby took the photo on my phone, that is why it is a decent image!
My sixth tattoo, done just over a week ago, August 2018, by Moby at Dabs Tattoo in Birkdale, Southport. This is on my left inner forearm and is my Clan Crest. The motto on the crest reads: Vincere Vel Mori. This means the same as the gaelic motto but, as the MacDowall clan is a lowland clan, being centered on the Galloway region, the motto is in Latin rather than Gaelic!
My seventh tattoo, done Thursday 20th September 2018, by Moby at DABS in Birkdale. Upper right arm, just below my personal logo and the clan motto in gaelic. Very detailed image (it took Moby 2 hours of non-stop tattooing to do this and he had to change down to a finer needle half way through)!
My eighth tattoo, done Friday 23th November 2018, by Moby at DABS in Birkdale. Upper right chest, a five hour job! This shows Odin with his two ravens Huginn and Muninn. Photo taken by Moby just after he had finished (this accounts for the blackish smudges below the tattoo on my chest - the whole thing had just been wiped down to remove ink stains.)
My ninth tattoo, done on the 4th April 2019, by Moby at DABS in Birkdale. Outside of lower right forearm. This shows Odin in his guise of the Wanderer, with his two ravens Huginn and Muninn flying in the background. A fairly long delay since my last one has I had a large hole (6cm x 2cm x 2cm) in my back after surgery just before Christmas and I had to wait until this had healed before getting my next tattoo.
My tenth tattoo, done on the 27th of April 2019, by Moby at DABS in Birkdale. This one is on my left hand (and was the only painful one so far) and depicts a Celtic version of Fenrir, the Feneris Wolf.
My eleventh tattoo, done on the 28th of May 2019, by Moby at DABS in Birkdale. This one was an all day job and depicts an upright Fenrir on the left side of my chest.
My twelth tattoo, again done by Moby at DABS in Birkdale. This one is on my right hand (and was nowhere near as painful as the one on my other hand) and depicts a classic viking version of Fenrir, the Feneris Wolf.
Tattoo number thirteen, again done by Moby at DABS in Birkdale. This was a two sittings job; it hurt enough to exceed my pain threshold and I cracked after four hours and had to defer finishing it until the next session. It depicts Hel, Loki's daughter and the Queen of Hell. This one is on my left side and contunes the line down from Odin on my upper right chest through Fenrir (her brother) on my chest to her on my left side. She is primarily located on my ribcage and that is what hurt so much! In total she was a six hour job and, once again, Moby did an excellent job.
Tattoo number fourteen, an updating of number six, done just before Christmas by Moby at Dabs Tattoo in Birkdale, Southport. As it was difficult to make out the clan motto on the original tattoo I decided to have the motto added on my arm surrounding the original image of the clan crest. This whole thing now occupies the inner side of my left forearm!
